The second floor of the Hill Center Annex is an unassuming hallway, left mostly unvisited by the many students who have class in the first floor lecture halls. Yet if you were to venture up there, you would find that its brick walls and industrial doors are home to an abundant amount of resources and a bustling community of students.
Students who are familiar with the second floor’s treasures can be found hanging around in the CAVE (Collaborative Academic Versatile Environment) on a daily basis. The CAVE plays host to everything from recitations to club meetings. This open space provides a slew of resources for Rutgers students, including iLab computers to work on assignments, conference tables for meetings or group projects, and white boards for ideas and doodles. The CAVE’s 60″ TV is used for everything from technical talks to movie nights to casual gaming. In addition, the CAVE employs student iLab Assistants who are there to help you with everything from homework assignments to starting your first side project.
Not quite a classroom and not quite a lounge, the CAVE is a collaborative learning environment that lets students define the space. In the days leading up to project deadlines and exams, you can find study groups scattered through the room; on Friday nights, you can often find pizza, board games, and Super Smash Bros.
The CAVE is located in room 252 of the Hill Center on Busch Campus and is open to students Monday-Thursday, 1pm-11pm and Sunday, 3pm-11pm. Find out more information on its website, and drop by for a visit!
