Tell-tale signs school has been back in session: books open with all our sticky notes & highlights, jobs and paper deadlines defining our college lives, and the sighs of relief when we get out of our exams. Now that summer is a thing of the past, we’re ready for all things autumn. Let’s admit it; we’ve missed the sweaters, scarves, boots, and a reason to layer up. Check out these students’ take on fall fashion as they take on the fall semester.
Boots? Check. Frame glasses? Check. Signature lipstick? Check. Rox’Anne Michaels has made her accessories become the focus of her look, which allows her to go casual with her clothes, even though those colors and cheetah print are far from subtle. Her hoop earrings are also so light and hidden so well that they could be easily overlooked. Can I please have that sweater? No? Okay.
It’s impossible to go wrong with a little black dress. Cassandra Burdziack doesn’t let wearing dresses just be a summer thing either as she tops hers off with a neutral-colored cardigan, just right for fall. The combat boots are a must, and paired with those thigh-high socks? She is effortlessly ready for class. Sometimes simplicity goes a long way.
New Student Orientation leader and Journalism major Michael Anderson is not phased by fall and its warm colors. His personality is all about eccentric and bright shades, so why let the weather change that? It’s fair to say he’s amongst the few who can pull off this combination of colors and he sure has the confidence to go with it!
Jillian Pastor, English & Journalism double-major, is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. Not only did she make our day at I Am Rutgers but apparently we made hers too. Her choice of the pastel cardigan and dress to go with the navy blue nails is too cool. Can we talk about her cowboy boots? I can’t be the only fan of the embroidered design on them.
The one and only Raymond Croft, Graphic Design major, is so used to photo shoots that this is just another casual day for him. Ray rocks the fall staple, the denim jacket, and shows how versatile it can be. Yes, plaid is back this season and the blue’s are a favorite around this time as well. So have fun with plaid and dress yourselves to be comfortable with a little edge. And of course, no outfit is perfect without a smile!
The fabulous level is always high when it comes to Elia Jefferson-Gonzalez, third year History major. Elia still brings summer everywhere she goes as evident by her flower-print pants. She also styles her denim jacket with a white top that complements her perfectly-wrapped head scarf and amazing earrings. Elia wears her signature lipstick to make her look complete!
We’ll be on the lookout for how the students at Rutgers choose to display their style as the seasons change.
