Monica Valdez is a senior double majoring in Philosophy and Economics under the School of Arts and Sciences. She originally had the goal of going to law school, but her college experience made her realize that it might not be the dream she wants to pursue. Still, her interest in philosophy did not die out as she continues to study in this field she calls “the creativity and art of analysis” while adding the Economics major into her “to-study” list.
“I want to continue with my major in Philosophy because I enjoy discussing, analyzing, and problem-solving, especially when the discussion is about applied ethics or the development or creation of a community and government.”
Monica hopes to work in the fashion business where she can apply her knowledge about philosophy and economics into her practices while pursuing her interests.
Philosophy will help me go into the business world with strong analytical skills and self-awareness of my individual actions. I will be able to make decisions that will benefit the company I work for, the people who I provide for, and the people I work with. I will be able to have a sense of ethics when I go into the business world knowing right from wrong.”
