Kimberly Lin is a junior at Rutgers majoring in History & Political Science (a joint major), and she will be either majoring or minoring in Economics. Kimberly says that history, culture, and foreign relations have always been her passion, but she never knew what she could do in those fields until she did a bit of soul searching. After dabbling with a science major as a freshman, she finally realized that her passion could become her future.
My dream is to work in foreign diplomacy with either the U.N. or the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer, but I know that those dream positions come after experience.”
Kimberly chose to pursue this joint major because it gives a different perspective on history and shows how history and politics are essentially directly reliant on one another. As for international relations purposes, history & political science teaches you how to analyze and appreciate the histories of other countries.
Once Kimberly graduates from Rutgers, she hopes to either work on an international business track or go straight to the U.N. or State Department. Whatever her first step is, though, she hopes she can travel and learn more about cultures so that she can further her understanding of the world and life in general.
Being able to travel, see, and experience the world with your own perspective and understanding is one of the greatest things in the world granted to a person.”
